I’m not officially done with my semester because I have a test to take on-line sometime next week, but that’s nothing. This semester has been sort of grueling. My classes were not difficult and they were mostly very entertaining, but my health was just very shaky causing school to be more of a chore than a pleasure. I have decided to take a break from school this summer(at least June) to get my self together. I definitely need to be more organized, so that is something I plan to correct this summer. I basically need to totally relax and reassess my life, goals, and responsibilities.
I took on so much this year that nothing turned out how I wanted it so I plan to narrow my focus so much more. I’ve been presented with so many opportunities this year that I don’t want to go down the drain. I don’t mean to boast, but obviously my talents as a journalist are receiving a lot of attention, so when an opportunity is presented to me, I need to be ready!!

First things first. I feel a very strong need to apologize to my public about my absence on the web. I’m not claiming that my blog site, JUSTJUSTINPAUL has changed the lives of the multitude (although I hope it someday will) or keep my readers informed of all important news across the world. I know that I’m such an insignificant part of the WWW (world wide web), but I’m here. I’m here and it’s my job..NO…it’s my responsibility to do whatever I can to become the things that are stated above….

I know that I have not been posting on my blog lately and I hate that fact. I have just been so distracted lately with my new life. Deciding what to do next is not my best subject. My plans change daily and its kind of exciting. I could end up anywhere. The best thing to know is that I will end up somewhere worthwhile. STAY TUNED….

Proud 2010 Graduate

I am weak, but I am strong. I am proud, but I am humbled. I am a man of God. I am a graduate of the Texas Southern University School of Communication Class of 2010 and I am Mr. Justin Paul Mouton, B.A.

I can’t believe I finally did it. I have a college degree. I feel like Alice in Wonderland. I see so many doors and there is no one to tell me which one to go through. There are huge doors that I can esily go through, but there are some tiny ones that I have to fight and squeeze into. There are some ones that I have to go through a maze to get through, but it will be worth it in the end. There are so many decisions to make. At this very moment, I’m in the “lay in bed as long as I want mode”, but I think I deserve a little rest. I need the rest especially after the last week of school. I was running around like a beaver with his head cut off trying to complete all of my assignments on time. I just couldn’t wait for the day. Then it came and when I walked across the stage and shook Dr. Rudley’s hand, it it hit me. I was a GRADUATE!! I joked with my classmates that even if we never find jobs in this economy, our “datable factor” just went up a few points. ”He may not be the cutest thing, but at least he has a degree.” LOL! I am so proud of my classmates for pushing through just like I did. I hope I am an inspiration to he underclassmen and they will strive to not only graduate, but leave Texas Southern U with all the knowledge and prepared they need to go out and be the great journalists that they are.

TSU TO SWAC

Texas Southern University has made history. The football team won the Western Division title for the first time ever, but this run is not over.

The Tigers will meet Alabama State battling for the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship. TSU President Dr. John Rudley calls it a renaissance.

“We haven’t had this kind of excitement for 42 years, since 1968. That’s what it means to this school. All these years without having a sense of pride in your campus, always being put in a negative light. It’s about time for Texas Southern to get in a positive light.”

That sentiment is echoed by virtually everyone on campus, including head football coach and alumni Johnnie Cole. Cole tried to get the coaching job twice before. When he was hired last year, he made changes from the ground up.

“We made them cut their hair. We made them shave. We made them wear collared shirts. We dressed them up. We took them to church,” Coach Cole says. “I’m kind of from the old school. I was raised in a family of nine children. So, I kind of took a page out of my mom’s book: Treat each of them different but you have the basic same fundamentals.”

Coach Cole says people are just proud they went to TSU because there was a time when that wasn’t happening.

A simple football game is bringing a lot of attention and respect to the campus. Senior Fred Gaines is an offensive guard.

“People in the grocery store walk up to me and say congratulations because I just have a TSU shirt on.”

Receiver and return specialist William Osborne agrees.

“Knowing that we can go down in history book making history and winning this championship, to bring it back to Third Ward I think that would mean a lot to us.”
